Full of energy and a lust for life, they barely sit still and try to live each moment to the fullest – wild and crazy and on their own terms. Ryke and Daisy are the wild ones of the group. “The only perfect world has Ryke standing beside Daisy and Daisy standing beside Ryke. It was everything that I wanted, and I absolutely loved it. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I danced around my house in happiness. After the build up to their story in the last book, I knew this one was going to be an emotional ride, and I wasn’t wrong. This book brings us back to Ryke and Daisy, and though I adore each of the characters in this series, there’s something about Ryke that makes him my favourite (yes, I said it!), so of course I was stupidly excited to dive into this book. Yes, yes, yes! The Ritchie sisters have nailed it with this one! There’s nothing I can say about this book that I haven’t said about any of the other books in this series – the story is wonderfully engaging with lots of drama, humour, passionate romance and the most incredible character dynamics of any series I’ve read and the writing is superb. 5 “You’re my favorite fucking wild thing” stars Four years later and the Lux Series is still my favorite series and Daemon Black still holds the number one spot as my favorite book boyfriend ever. I was so happy to be back in a world with characters that I absolutely loved with my whole heart. Oblivion was gripping, emotional and I loved every minute of it! So when I started reading that very first page I found myself crying. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy-the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.įalling for Katy-a human-won't just place her in danger. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. ‘Cuz they are.īut Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her-or wanting to use my powers to protect her. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Lots of it.Īnd trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. His father was a failed oral hygienist" (really ? a failed oral hygienist, of all things ? in Cairo ?), but he saved some visiting English tourists when he was a boy, and they plucked him out of there and basically adopted him, buying him the finest education possible. He was: "born in complete poverty in the backstreets of Cairo. The man Ian was investigating was self-made millionaire - and one-time schoolmate of the current British Prime Minister - Herod Sayle. It turns out that Uncle Ian wasn't quite who he said he was rather than working for a bank, he worked for the government.Īnd he was working on a big case when he got himself killed - a case where Alex can conveniently follow in, if not fill, his footsteps. The fourteen-year-old orphan doesn't start out as a secret agent, but his life changes when his uncle, Ian Rider, who raised him, is killed in what is reported to be a car accident. Stormbreaker, the first volume in the series, introduces teen secret agent Alex Rider. General information | our review | links | about the author Trying to meet all your book preview and review needs. Shroff expresses herself further in The Author’s Note, which I hope readers will take the time to read. My favorite line “shooting people makes me a don killing a dog just makes me a psychopath.” Shroff does an excellent job of placing the reader in this small Indian village, with a mix of language, caste delineation, customs and folklore. This was a wonderful, character rich story - the women are fully fleshed out. I loved watching Geeta’s confidence build as she sought to improve not just her own lot in life, but that of other women. The Bandit Queen, Phoolan Devi, who lived in the late 20th century, was a woman who took revenge on her male abusers before becoming a women’s activist and member of Parliament. Even now, women in India have very little independence, especially in the lower classes. It tackles the issues of childlessness, love, abuse of all kinds, and most importantly, women’s rights. Yes, there is humor, mostly dark, but it’s so much more. What surprised me was the depth of the story. This same reputation leads other women to come to her looking to get rid of their own no good husbands. The village mostly steers clear of her, given her reputation as an evil woman, a witch. She didn’t kill him, but everyone thinks she did. Geeta’s abusive husband ran off five years ago. From the description, I expected The Bandit Queens to be a mostly humorous novel about an outcast Indian woman. Max is excited by the storm and insists on traveling to Miami to see it firsthand. Stormy Weather is a novel as chaotic as the storm it depicts, creating a highly entertaining work of fiction.īonnie and Max Lamb are on their honeymoon when the hurricane hits. As the novel progresses, the separate categories of characters make connections to each other that create a symbolic link between the plot and the destruction of the hurricane. Several characters arrive in South Florida to take advantage of the chaos after the storm to defraud victims, while others are caught in the momentum of the chaos itself, innocent as the victims. The novel begins with many diverse characters that appear to be completely unconnected. Stormy Weather is a novel about the aftermath of a destructive hurricane that struck Southern Florida.
